A modern take on fairy tale, The Shape of Water is worth seeing onthe big screen. The story is simple yet the people behind made it artistically wonderful. Michael Shannon is menacing as always. Michael Stuhlbarg is unrecognizable after Call Me By Your Name but his true-to-life performance never failed to deliver. Richard Jenkins is magnificent and Octavia Spencer’s grounded take is amazing. Sally Hawkins’ performance conveys deep emotions even though she did not utter a single word. Her facial expressions and movements that speaks to the viewers are proof that she is a terrific actor. As always, Guillermo Del Toro gave a visually fantastic feel to this film and it’s a shame if you wouldn’t witness this masterpiece before it gets pulled out of theaters.
